We have some exciting news: updates are coming soon to the Dropzone platform. Our team has been hard at work enhancing Dropzone for improved performance, and we’re eager to share these changes with you. Here’s what you can expect:
What is Dropzone:
Dropzone is our proprietary domain drop-catching system that creates ease and transparency around expired domains that are returning back to the market. Partners can access Dropzone to submit domain applications for Identity Digital’s portfolio of over 270 TLDs using existing Identity Digital credentials.
What’s New:
Identity Digital will be overhauling the Dropzone release window to provide our partners with greater access to our expiry stream of domains, helping ensure more equal opportunity to claim desirable domains as they become available.
Expiring domains will be made available through a Dutch auction pricing structure, with descending price points daily over a fourteen-day window. The associated Dropzone fee will decrease in price for every release window. Please see the supporting TLD fee schedule for more details. In parallel, Dropzone reporting will be updated to provide greater visibility into which domains are entering Dropzone and their associated price points.
Action Required:
Dropzone enhancements will enter the production environment at 17:00 UTC on December 9, 2024. In order to continue using Dropzone, partners will need to begin consuming the updated reporting contents in advance of this change. Partners should also review the updated user guides and test the updated workflow in our OT&E environment ahead of this change.
The updated platform will go live in OTE for testing starting on November 25, 2024 at 17:00 UTC. For more details on implementation, please consult the Dropzone User Guide below:
Note: Any domains currently scheduled to be included in Dropzone windows after the December 9 launch of these enhancements will follow the new Dutch auction pricing schedule for the associated TLD.
