This is a general service announcement to anyone with .to domains registered with Register.to:
I’ve received notice from the Tonga registry (ToNIC) that the owner and sole operator of register.to has recently passed away, and Register.to is no longer authorized by the Tonga registry to register or renew .to domains. Additionally:
- Domains registered at register.to are not in danger of being lost unless they are nearing their expiration date. The Tonga registry is aware of the situation and is contacting Register.to registrants whose .to domains are expiring soon. Domains registered at Register.to can be renewed directly with the Tonga registry for $50 USD/year.
- Register.to customer support no longer exists, and other services (such as DNS) could become non-operational.
- Register.to has been removed from tld-list.com.
- Contact the Tonga registry ([email protected]) to renew or transfer your .to domains away from Register.to. Alternative registrar options are available on tld-list.com.

According to Tonga Network Information Center (Tonic), Register.to is no longer a reseller of .to domains following the death of its owner.
A number of domain investors used Register.to, which was an advertiser on Domain Name Wire.
The company said that customer’s .to domain names are not at risk because they are registered with Tonic:
Registrants will be welcome to submit domain names. We will offer to reset and send password information in a separate message. Names have always been registered with Tonic. Registrants will be welcome to manage names directly with Tonic.
Tonic had advice for customers of Register.to that are concerned about previous payments:
Tonic has no information concerning the financial affairs of Register.to. We must suggest that registrants dispute recent payments with their card provider or with PayPal.
